The Moose Jaw Warriors enjoyed a little home cooking Tuesday.
After being outscored 13-1 over two games in Winnipeg to open a best-of-seven WHL playoff series, the Warriors beat the Ice 3-2 when the Eastern Conference semifinal resumed in Moose Jaw.
Jagger Firkus, Eric Alarie and Calder Anderson scored for the Warriors.
Anderson’s shorthanded goal gave Moose Jaw a 3-1 lead at the 9:42 mark of the third period and the Warriors held on to cut the Ice’s lead in the series to 2-1.
Zachary Benson and Jack Finley scored for Winnipeg, which had won six of its first seven playoff games and outscored its opponents 40-10 in those seven games. The Ice beat the Prince Albert Raiders in five games in the first round.
In Tuesday’s contest, Jackson Unger stopped 38 of 40 shots in the Moose Jaw goal. Daniel Hauser made 28 saves for the Ice.
Moose Jaw was 0-for-2 on the power play, while Winnipeg was 1-for-6.
Game 4 is set for Wednesday at Mosaic Place.
