Seven months after a 70-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run on a Regina street, a 47-year-old woman has been charged in connection with the collision.
The Regina Police Service said Thursday that Sjaane Adrienne McMurchie had been charged with failure to stop after an accident that results in death. She made her first court appearance Thursday.
On Oct. 21, police officers responded at about 7:25 a.m., to the intersection of Rochdale Boulevard and Cedar Meadow Drive in the city’s northwest for a report of a collision between an SUV and a male pedestrian.
Police were told the man was crossing Rochdale from the south sidewalk when an SUV turned left off Cedar Meadow Drive onto Rochdale. The vehicle hit the man and continued east without stopping.
The pedestrian was taken by paramedics to hospital, where he died later that day.
The vehicle was located and seized on the day of the crash, but no one was charged until McMurchie’s arrest on Wednesday.
