Regina Public Schools teachers worked on their penmanship Tuesday.
The division experienced what it called “a network-wide incident” over the weekend that knocked out many of its computer systems, prompting the division to take its IT systems offline.
That in turn forced teachers to use their handwriting to communicate.
“Although our systems are offline, we are confident that our day-to-day educational operations will remain unaffected,” the division said in a statement posted to Twitter. “There will be some adaptation undertaken by our staff who will be moving certain work tasks and communications to pen and paper …
“We do not expect that the current outage will have any significant impact on teaching and the classroom environment.”
A division spokesperson said experts were still trying to determine what happened and why.
The school division encouraged parents to call schools directly to report student absences or for other reasons. The division said further updates would be issued on social media networks.
