980 CJME’s Logan Stein was on the scene Thursday afternoon and saw at least a dozen mangled train cars. Police blocked off the area, saying it was too dangerous for Stein to get closer.
The Mounties said there were reports fuel may have leaked from the derailed train cars. It’s unknown what the train was hauling.
The RCMP set up a perimeter around the site of the derailment and urged drivers to avoid the area, which is about one kilometre north of Highway 364.
CN Police officers are continuing their investigation.
