After a massive revenge win on Sunday over the Montreal Alouettes, the Riders went out and got a piece from the opposition.
Saskatchewan acquired Mario Alford from the Alouettes on Sunday. In exchange, the Riders are sending back a 6th-round pick in the 2023 CFL Draft.
Alford has played in nine career CFL games with the Als, both as a wide receiver and kick returner. The 31-year-old player returned 26 punts for 486 yards and three touchdowns in a Montreal uniform.
Before his days in Montreal, Alford played in six games with the Toronto Argonauts, grabbing seven catches for 57 yards and going for 170 yards on eight kickoff returns.
Alford was originally drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the seventh round (238th overall) dating back to the 2015 draft. Since then, he’s been a part of the Bengals organization, as well as the New York Jets, Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns.
