It’s the biggest football game of the year … and it’s not the Grey Cup.
The 57th Labour Day Classic — the annual meeting between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Green and White’s perennial rivals, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers — is set for Sept. 4 at Mosaic Stadium, and the game is already sold out.
“The environment in Mosaic Stadium for the Labour Day Classic is absolutely electric,” Craig Reynolds, the Roughriders’ president and CEO, said in a statement Thursday.
“Rider Nation always sets the tone for the game, and we know our sold-out crowd will have a big impact when we go head-to-head with the Bombers.”
The team also announced the return of Roughrider Fan Day, which will return Sept. 3 after a two-year hiatus.
Fans will have a chance to join their favourite players on the field after practice, to run, play and take pictures, followed by a one-hour autograph session on the stadium’s concourse.
