Hundreds of people stepped up Thursday in Regina to protest intimate partner violence.
Celebrities and members of the public were invited to pull on a pair of red shoes to take part in the Walk A Mile in Their Shoes fundraiser in City Square Plaza.

The event, which is now in its sixth year, raises funds for survivors of domestic violence and raises awareness of gender-based and sexualized violence.
Proceeds of the event go to the YWCA Regina’s Isabel Johnson Domestic Violence Shelter, one of three emergency domestic violence shelters in the city.
“Saskatchewan continues to lead the country in intimate partner violence and homicide — our rate is the highest of the 10 Canadian provinces, and approximately twice the national average,” the YWCA said in a media release.
“Nearly 50 per cent of Canadian women and 66 per cent of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals have experienced violence, and nearly 80 per cent of those who come to YWCA Regina’s shelters are doing so because they are fleeing violence.”
