Days after he allegedly talked online about sexually assaulting the wife of Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre, the founder of the extremist group Diagolon has been arrested at his home in Cole Harbour, N.S.
But 36-year-old Jeremy Mackenzie wasn’t arrested as part of that RCMP investigation. Instead, he was picked up on a Canada-wide warrant that originated in Saskatchewan in late August.
In a media release Aug. 25, the Saskatchewan RCMP said the warrant was issued for Mackenzie on charges of assault, pointing a firearm, using a restricted weapon in a careless manner, and mischief.
The Saskatoon RCMP got a call in March reporting an assault that allegedly occurred in November of last year in the Rural Municipality of Viscount. The warrant was subsequently issued for Mackenzie’s arrest.
Mackenzie also was charged in Nova Scotia with 13 firearms offences in January, and with harassment and intimidation in March after an anti-mask protest outside the home of Nova Scotia’s chief medical officer of health.
On Monday, Poilievre asked the RCMP to investigate Mackenzie after he talked during a livestream on the weekend about sexually assaulting Poilievre’s wife, Anaida Poilievre.
It’s unknown when Mackenzie will be in Saskatchewan to face the charges against him in this province.
