Regina police say the death of a man whose body was found in Wascana Lake last week isn’t a criminal matter.
In a media release Friday, police didn’t say why they had come to that determination. They did say they had identified the man and determined he was from Regina, but didn’t release his name. His family has been notified of his death, police said.
On Oct. 20 at about 3:20 p.m., police officers and firefighters responded to Wascana Lake for a report of a body in the water near Willow Island. Regina Fire and Protective Services recovered the man’s body from the water.
Police and the coroner subsequently asked for the public’s help in identifying the man.
“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the male’s death will continue; that investigation will be led by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service and assisted by police,” Friday’s release said.
