Regina Pats captain Connor Bedard was named the WHL’s player of the week Monday.
The 17-year-old centre had eight points (including three goals) in three games to earn the honour. He’s riding a 14-game point-scoring streak and leads the league in goals (13), points (29), game-winning goals (five) and shots on goal (91).
He has an eight-point lead in the WHL’s scoring race.
Bedard had an assist Wednesday in a 2-1 loss to the Moose Jaw Warriors, recorded a goal and an assist Saturday in a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Everett Silvertips, and had two goals and three assists in Sunday’s 7-3 victory over the Tri-City Americans.
The first player granted exceptional status by the WHL, Bedard has recorded 76 goals and 81 assists over 92 regular-season games with the Pats.
Regina’s next game is set for Saturday, 7 p.m., against the visiting Swift Current Broncos.
