The suspect in a shooting in Regina in September is in custody and facing a charge of attempted murder.
According to the RCMP, the 31-year-old man — the subject of a province-wide warrant — was arrested Nov. 2 by officers from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, the Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP detachment, the Warrant Enforcement and Suppression Team, and the Regina Police Service’s Street Gang Unit.
On Sept. 8, Regina police responded to the area of Seventh Avenue and Pasqua Street for a gun call. At the scene, officers found a 23-year-old woman who alleged that she had been shot by a man she knew. She was taken to hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
“Regina Police Service members created a perimeter around a house believed to be the location of the shooting, but the suspect had left,” the RCMP said in a release. “Continued investigation into this matter resulted in a warrant being issued for the arrest of a 31-year-old suspect.”
After his arrest, the man — a resident of the Fort Qu’Appelle district — was charged with attempted murder and failing to comply with a probation order.
