The Swift Current Broncos beat and tied the Regina Pats on the same night.
Swift Current posted a 4-2 WHL victory over the visiting Pats on Friday to pull into a tie with Regina for seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Broncos have a 21-17-0-2 record and 44 points, the same total as the Pats (21-20-1-1). Swift Current has three games in hand on Regina.
Josh Davies scored twice for the Broncos, who got their other goals from Josh Filmon and Drew Englot.
Connor Bedard had a goal for the Pats, giving him 10 goals and five assists in four games since he returned from the world junior hockey championship. The 17-year-old leads the WHL in goals (37), assists (42) and points (79) in 32 games played this season.
Parker Berge had the other goal for Regina, which had a three-game winning streak snapped.
Swift Current netminder Reid Dyck stopped 25 shots, one fewer than Regina goalie Drew Sim.
A rematch is set for Saturday at the Brandt Centre. Game time is 7 p.m.
In Saskatoon, Misha Volotovskii had two goals as the host Blades beat the Prince Albert Raiders 6-1.
Tanner Molendyk, Brandon Lisowsky, Egor Sidorov and Jordan Keller also scored for Saskatoon (28-9-3-1). Sloan Stanick replied for the Raiders (15-25-3-0).
Ethan Chadwick made 17 saves in the Blades’ goal. Max Hildebrand started in net for the Raiders and allowed four goals on nine shots. Tikhon Chaika replaced Hildebrand at 16:01 of the first period and allowed two goals on 21 shots the rest of the way.
The teams are to meet again Saturday, 7 p.m., at the Art Hauser Centre in Prince Albert.
