Visitors to Regina’s airport will see some new things on the main floor of the terminal.
After years of planning – and following a COVID-induced delay – the Regina Airport Authority has opened a new restaurant and a new retail store.
The restaurant, the Brioche Dorée, was previously located upstairs, where travellers could find it after they went through security. Now in the arrivals area downstairs, it opens at 4:30 a.m. and offers breakfast, lunch and supper choices.
The retail store, Brick + Mortar, is open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily beside the departure escalators on the main floor. In late 2022, the store opened in a temporary location, offering clothing, jewelry, gifts, food, art and travel items.
The store offers products from local brands such as 22Fresh, Hillberg & Berk, The Everyday Kitchen, Queen City Cakes, Wild Prairie Designs, Rebellion Brewing, Chocolate Moose Fudge Factory, and more.
In 2019, the authority improved the food and beverage services available to passengers who had gone through security. It planned to do similar work on the main floor, but those plans were put on hold due to COVID-19.
In 2022, the work was resumed and resulted in the new offerings on the main floor.
“We’re really excited about the service and quality of products available now at YQR,” Justin Reves, the authority’s manager of customer experience and marketing, said in a release. “We love seeing families having a meal before saying goodbye or travellers finding great local gifts.
“We’re not done yet, but this a great step forward.”
