A Regina man is asking for help from anyone who knows where his three-year-old son’s electric car is.
Earlier this week, Darcy Rogalski and his family were moving from the Broders Annex area when they learned someone had stolen their son’s electric car.
“We were in the process of moving and finished up for the night and then I got a text from my landlord who said my garage door was left open for two days or something like that,” Rogalski said on Thursday’s Greg Morgan Morning Show. “So when I went over there, the jeep was gone.”
While lots of kids have electric cars they’ll drive around when the snow melts, Rogalski says this isn’t any ordinary kids car. It was built to meet specific needs for his son.
“He was born with a brain disorder. He can’t really walk or run and as he has epilepsy,” Rogalski explained. “The pedals (for the car) are routed to a button, so the pedals don’t even work. It’s remote controlled and has a harness.”
Rogalski calls it a necessary mode of transportation for his son.
“He loves that thing,” he said.
Rogalski posted his plea for help on Facebook and, since Tuesday, that post has been shared more than 3,600 times. Many people are offering to donate in case the car isn’t found and Rogalski has to buy a replacement.
Rogalski says he has filed a report with Regina police and is asking for anyone to contact him, Crime Stoppers or police if they know where the car is.
