Police said the suspects stole three long-barreled firearms and a significant amount of ammunition from the home; all of those items were stored appropriately, police said.
The RCMP also said the suspects arrived to the rural home in a vehicle and left in it after they lit the home owner’s vehicle on fire.
The suspects’ vehicle travelled east and west of the intersections of Highway 637 and Highway 9 after the incident.
Police said they do not have a description of the vehicle.
“There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area in relation to this investigation in the coming days,” RCMP said in a statement. “We ask the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information to police immediately.”
