Saskatchewan’s Robyn Silvernagle fell to 1-3 at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts on Monday.
The team from North Battleford lost 9-5 to Quebec’s Laurie St-Georges at the Canadian women’s curling championship in Kamloops. Saskatchewan has four games remaining in the round-robin and, with just three teams advancing to the playoffs from each pool, is in must-win territory.
Silvernagle opened the scoring Monday with a deuce in the second end, but St-Georges responded with one in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.
After the Saskatchewan champions scored one in the sixth, St-Georges put up a deuce in the seventh. Silvernagle scored one in the eighth and stole one in the ninth, but the Quebec champions scored three in the 10th to seal the victory.
Saskatchewan is to face the Wild Card No. 1 entry skipped by Kaitlyn Lawes (10:30 a.m.) and Kerri Einarson’s Team Canada (3:30 p.m.) in its two games Tuesday.
