A Regina jury has found a 28-year-old man guilty of manslaughter in connection with a drive-by shooting in the city in January of 2020.
Devon Wayne Cyr was initially charged with second-degree murder in the killing of Isaiah Trent Allary. Cyr pleaded not guilty when his trial began in Court of King’s Bench on Feb. 13.
After deliberating earlier this week, the jury found Cyr guilty of the lesser offence of manslaughter.
A date hasn’t been set for Cyr’s sentencing.
On Jan. 25, 2020, police responded to call about a gunshot and an injured person in the 1200 block of Rae Street. Officers found Allary at the scene, where the 24-year-old was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Cyr was arrested the next day and charged in connection with Regina’s third homicide of 2020.
