Ward boundaries in Regina are expected to change before the next municipal election.
The City of Regina announced Monday that it was looking for input from residents about proposed ward boundaries as part of its Ward Boundary Review.
“As a result of changing population across our community, the Municipal Wards Commission is ensuring the city’s population is distributed evenly prior to the 2024 municipal election,” the city said in a release.
“The proposed boundary changes impact all Regina wards, which means that some residents will be voting in different wards in the 2024 municipal election.”
From Monday to Friday this week, people can see the proposed boundaries online or in person during regular business hours at City Hall, the Glencairn Neighbourhood Centre, the RCMP Heritage Centre, any Regina Public Library location, or the T.C. Douglas Building.
Residents then can provide feedback on the proposed changes online between Monday and March 24, at a public hearing March 20 at 11 a.m. or at 1 p.m. in the Darlene Hincks Committee Room at City Hall, or at an open house March 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., in the City Hall cafeteria.
The commission will determine the final ward boundaries and submit its decision to city council in April. The new boundaries would be in place for the 2024 municipal election.
