After another blast of winter over the weekend, it’s starting to look a lot more like spring in Regina.
The city’s systematic plow has been underway over the past few days and is on schedule to be finished Monday night by around 7 or 8 p.m., according to manager of roadway season operations Tyler Bien.
“The storm, as everybody could tell, kind of let up about midday Saturday and we got right into the systematic clearing in the evening on Saturday and we’ve been working around the clock, moving all the snow off the roads,” Bien said.
Bien said work on all Category 1 to 3 streets will be completed Monday.
“The amount of snow doesn’t call for a residential plow,” Bien said. ”With that being said, however, if you do live in an area where the snow drifted in so bad where the road is like impassable, let us know.”
While the plow has gone smoothly for the most part, Bien said there were a few minor hurdles.
“During the storm, it was very windy,” he said. “Those high winds caused a lot of visibility issues and any snow that you did plow during that wind was put back almost minutes later.
“We had struggles throughout that Friday night and Saturday day, but once the conditions improved, our crews were ready.”
Bien said most of the problem areas have been addressed.
If a resident’s street is still in rough driving shape, Bien said they should contact Service Regina.
