Dino-mite!
Gary Grady, the owner of Big Mur’s Tavern in Dundurn, is looking to go after an interesting Guinness world record this summer: The most people wearing inflatable dinosaur costumes in one place.
He told CKOM’s Mark Loshack this week the idea came to him during a trip to Portland, Ore.
“I was surfing around and we always look for fun weird ideas to promote our town of Dundurn,” he said.
Then he found out the current record was set in Portland, with 380 inflatable dinosaur suits.
“I thought, ‘Well, I think we could beat that,’ ” he said. “That’ll put Dundurn on the map.”
Grady is hoping to crush the record with 600 dino suits in his “Dundurn dino challenge.”
“If you get a whole group of them on a street in Dundurn, that would be incredibly funny,” he said.
Grady already has plans on how it will pan out. The challenge will take place on the main street of Dundurn in front of Big Mur’s Tavern on Canada Day, and will be accompanied by live entertainment and a “dino dance.”
He said all the dinosaurs will gather in front of the dive bar for a photo op, and headcount.
He noted that people can register for the challenge at the tavern.
