A 16-year-old boy is dead after he was hit by a vehicle early Sunday in Regina’s Cathedral neighbourhood.
According to police, the crash happened at around 1 a.m. in the area of 13th Avenue and Garnet Street. Police responded after being told a pedestrian had been hit by an eastbound vehicle.
Paramedics arrived and confirmed the pedestrian was dead. The vehicle involved remained at the scene.
Police closed 13th Avenue for several hours while investigators tried to determine the cause of the collision.
Police said Monday they wouldn’t be releasing the name of the victim, but noted his family had been notified.
An investigation by police and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service is continuing. Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call the Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500.
