Police said schools in Regina’s North Central neighbourhood were put into “secure the building mode” Wednesday after a shooting in the area.
In a media release, the Regina Police Service said officers responded just after 11 a.m. to the 3300 block of Sixth Avenue for a report of a shooting.
“Early information shared with police stated the victim entered a nearby school for safety,” the release said. “Schools in the area were put into secure the building mode. Police arrived and attended to the victim, who is not believed to be physically injured.
“The secure the building has since been lifted.”
Scott Collegiate, Albert Community School, Seven Stones Community School and Sacred Heart Community School are in the immediate vicinity of Sixth Avenue.
Police said their investigation is continuing and noted more details would be released when they’re available.
In a release later Wednesday, police said two people were in custody as a result of the incident.
