A Regina pharmacy is facing a hefty fine after a worker was injured while going down a flight of steps that wasn’t equipped with a handrail.
According to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety, Regina’s Rubicon Health Solutions pleaded guilty to a single violation of provincial safety regulations earlier this month. The ministry said the charge stemmed from an incident in May of 2021 when a worker in Regina was hurt while descending the stairs.
Staircases in Saskatchewan that have five or more steps must be equipped with a handrail, the ministry noted.
Rubicon was fined $11,500 for the violation with a $4,600 surcharge, bringing the total up to $16,100.
