Two 20-year-olds are facing charges after Regina’s SWAT team surrounded a house on Argyle Street early Sunday.
According to police, officers responded just before 7:30 a.m., to a house on the 1000 block of Argyle Street for the report of a weapons offence. A gunshot had been heard and two people had been seen running from the area.
Police didn’t find anyone who had been shot in the area, so they headed to another house where the suspects were believed to be. Officers saw one person leave the house and then go back in, but neither of the suspects obeyed police commands to exit the home.
After the SWAT team showed up, a 20-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman left the house and were arrested. Police then found a gun and ammunition.
Both were charged with reckless discharge of a firearm. The man also was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm/ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and one count each of careless storage of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession was unauthorized, and possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition.
They made their first court appearances Monday morning.
