RCMP officers in Lumsden are warning the public about “a potential child luring” incident in Regina Beach.
In a statement, the RCMP said that on Thursday evening, a man driving a dark blue or black four-door car approached two boys who were on foot on Fifth Avenue “and asked them multiple times if they wanted a ride.” The boys were able to get away unharmed, the RCMP said, and the driver sped away.
The man was described as being 40 to 50 years old, “with a round face.” No descriptions of his clothing or licence plate were available, police noted.
The RCMP said officers immediately began patrolling the area, but couldn’t find the suspect or his vehicle.
The Mounties asked anyone who spots the vehicle or has any information that would help the investigation to call the Lumsden RCMP at 306-731-4270 or 310-RCMP.
Police also asked the public to check any cameras that may have captured footage of the vehicle, with an emphasis on any footage of Fifth Avenue in Regina Beach taken between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Parents in the area were advised to speak to their children about what to do if they’re approached by strangers.
