On Saturday, sports fans will have a chance to get autographs from the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame’s 2023 inductees, including Stanley Cup and Olympic champion Ryan Getzlaf.
Four athletes are getting the call to the hall this year: Getzlaf (hockey), Saskatoon’s Jamie Boyer (multi sport), Lanigan’s Joan McEachern (soccer), and Shaunavon’s Hayley Wickenheiser (hockey).
Also on the induction list this year are three builders: Wynyard’s Lorne Lasuita (multi sport), Bethune’s Bernadette McIntyre (curling) and Saskatoon’s Noreen Murphy (softball).
On Saturday, members of the 2023 induction class will hold an open-house autograph session at the hall, located at 2205 Victoria Ave. in Regina. The session is to run from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
While Wickenheiser probably won’t be attending the autograph session due to her commitments as assistant general manager of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs, the other six will be on hand to meet and greet their fans.
In addition to the autograph session, the hall will also be unveiling its new ‘Dedication to Sport’ exhibit on Saturday, honouring the seven new inductees.
