The Saskatoon Hilltops are still undefeated in 2023.
On a rainy night in Saskatoon, they defeated the rival Regina Thunder 19-10 at SMF Field to move to 7-0 on the season in front of a crowd that drew just over 2,000 people.
The game was not pretty by any means as the Hilltops didn’t find the endzone once, but instead, relied on their kicker Teijon Abel-Douglas to lead them to victory.
Abel-Douglas knocked four field goals through the uprights for the Hilltops on Friday night. Their other points came via rouges and a safety.
For the Thunder, their one touchdown on the night came after Ryland Leichert punched a short run into the endzone just before halftime.
The loss puts the Thunder at 5-2 on the season.
Up next, the Thunder will face the Edmonton Huskies in their regular season finale on Oct. 8 at Mosaic Stadium. Meanwhile, the Hilltops will look to keep their perfect season bid alive against the Winnipeg Rifles on Oct. 8 at the SMF Field.
Both games are 1 p.m. kickoffs.
