The RCMP is setting up a temporary detachment in the village of Richmound, near the Alberta border, in response to concerns over the woman who’s styled herself the “queen of Canada”.
“The safety and security of the communities we police is our top priority,” says Chief Superintendent Tyler Bates, commander of Saskatchewan RCMP’s South District, in a news release.
The RCMP said there have been a number of calls for service in that area, including report of an assault, threats, and suspicious persons. RCMP said they were all under investigation and declined to give any more details.
“We will be bringing a mobile temporary RCMP detachment to Richmound, which will be staffed 24/7 and will allow our officers to quickly respond to any potential calls for service in the area. We will also be conducting regular patrols in the community,” said Bates.
Romana Didulo and her followers have been staying in the community west of Swift Current recently, after they were chased out of Kamsack.
She and her followers have been sending out fake cease and desist letters to leadership and people in the village, warning about crimes against humanity and including threats of public execution.
Village Mayor Brad Miller said he’s tried to address the situation with Didulo.
“I said ‘You can’t have these cease and desist letters and target kids, grandkids, and schools,’” he said. “That’s way offside.”
Miller and others in the community want Didulo and her followers to leave.
