A young Regina woman is facing a criminal charge after a fatal crash on Ring Road dating back to November of last year.
According to police, officers were called to a stretch of Ring Road between Wascana Parkway and Albert Street where they found citizens helping an 18-year-old woman who was lying on the ground. She appeared to be the driver of a white Ford car at the scene, police said, and a black Ford truck was in the ditch nearby.
The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, noting that his name “will not be released by the Regina Police Service.”
According to police, a lengthy investigation involving a number of special police units uncovered what happened.
“Police investigation determined the driver of the white Ford car was travelling southbound on Ring Road,” police explained in a statement.
“The vehicle entered the center ditch and continued into the northbound lane into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then collided with the Ford truck, which was travelling northbound.”
The driver of the car, now 19, is now facing a charge of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death. She made her first court appearance on Thursday, police said.
