A Saskatoon police officer – and two employees at a local business – were allegedly attacked with bear spray by a robbery suspect.
According to police, officers were on an unrelated call on 22nd Street West on Thursday when they heard a commotion.
Police said the officers found two employees who had been bear-sprayed by a customer to whom they’d refused a sale.
“The suspect had remained in the area but fled immediately after seeing police,” police said in a statement.
“During the brief foot pursuit, the suspect discharged a can of bear spray in the direction of two constables; affecting one. He was subsequently arrested with the assistance of additional officers.”
The 24-year-old Saskatoon man is now facing charges of carrying a dangerous weapon, assaulting a peace officer and assault with a weapon.
