A 37-year-old Regina man is dead after a crash on Highway 39.
According to the RCMP, officers were called to the scene about 21 kilometres northwest of Estevan on Wednesday just after 3 p.m. Police said the initial investigation determined a truck and van collided on the highway, and a semi “then blocked the highway completely to avoid the truck and van collision.”
That area received a significant amount of snow on Wednesday, with Estevan getting as much as 19 centimetres.
The Regina man who was behind the wheel of the van was pronounced dead at the scene, the RCMP said.
The truck involved in the crash had five people inside, but the RCMP said none of them reported injuries. The semi driver was also unhurt.
The road opened to traffic again, the RCMP noted, but the investigation has not yet concluded.
Icy road conditions have led to numerous crashes around the province after much of Saskatchewan got its first snowfall of the season this week.
