Two teens have been charged after an alleged robbery and bear mace incident that saw suspects try to get away on a Regina Transit bus.
The incident occurred inside the Northgate Mall at approximately 5:10 p.m.
According to a news release from the Regina Police Service, multiple suspects wearing masks sprayed a group of people with bear mace and demanded their property.
The suspects subsequently took off on foot, with two of them jumping on a city bus.
Police found the bus at Seventh Avenue North and Smith Street North and arrested two males — a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old. Officers found bear mace on the bus and what police called “a bladed weapon” on one of the youths.
Each of the teens, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was charged with four counts of robbery, disguise with intent and possession of a weapon. The 15-year-old also was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
The youths made their first appearance in Youth Court on Thursday morning.
