Campers can now experience winter camping at three provincial parks in Saskatchewan.
Reservations can be made online for sites at Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, Echo Valley Provincial Park and Buffalo Pound Provincial Park.
“Our provincial parks are meeting the increasing demand for four-season camping while offering unique winter experiences,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Laura Ross said in a media release.
“With many opportunities to explore nature, we encourage everyone to take a moment to enjoy the season and experience Saskatchewan provincial parks in a new way.”
The parks are offering campers a chance to stay in a Camp-Easy yurt or tent at any of the three winter parks until March 15. The fee of $85 per night includes four bunk-style cots, an electric heater, a queen bed, camp chairs, a propane camp stove for cooking, and an axe.
Camping also is available for $29 per night for electrical sites and $16 per night for non-electrical sites.
Visitors can take part in self-guided activities like hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing or tobogganing. Starting Jan. 6, programs like themed snowshoe hikes and “New to Nordic” cross-country skiing will take place every Saturday.
Those who want to visit the parks need a pass and have three options, all of which are available on the Sask Parks website: A day pass; a weekly pass for a stay of four days or longer; or an annual pass, which are valid until April 30.
Anyone who doesn’t already have an annual pass can buy one for a reduced price of $45 on the Sask Parks website.
