A loss of more than $15,000 prompted the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) to fire an employee whom it alleges was double-dipping.
On Monday, the report on losses of public money in the second quarter of the fiscal year (July 1 to Sept. 30) within Saskatchewan health organizations was tabled with the Standing Committee on Public Accounts by the Ministry of Health.

The report showed a loss of $15,720 that had been incurred between December of 2022 and this past July. According to the report, an SHA employee was paid for shifts by the authority while working for an external employer at the same time.
The employee was fired and placed on the cautionary hire list, the report said. The matter wasn’t referred to police.
The report didn’t say whether the employee was ordered to pay restitution.
There weren’t any losses reported within government ministries, Crown corporations or at Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the province’s regional colleges.
