The head coach of a Saskatchewan WHL team has been hit with an indefinite suspension.
On Tuesday the Swift Current Broncos announced the suspension of head coach Devan Praught. The team said the decision was made by general manager Chad Leslie after “an alleged violation of the Western Hockey League Standards of Conduct” that occurred on the ice during a practice on Monday.
The Broncos said the league’s security is reviewing the alleged violation, but no further details were shared.

Taras McEwen, an assistant coach for the Broncos, will take on the head coaching role until further notice.
“The WHL and the Broncos are committed to holding players and staff to the highest standards of conduct both on and off the ice,” the team wrote in a statement. “There will be no additional comment at this time.”
Praught was named the hockey team’s head coach in 2022. He previously served as head coach on an interim basis following the departure of Dean Brockman.
