Police in Regina are asking the public for help as they investigate an alleged hit-and-run involving a cyclist and a stolen SUV.
According to police, officers tried to stop a black Ford Escape SUV at the intersection of Elphinstone Street and First Avenue on Thursday at around 5:30 a.m. Police said the driver didn’t stop, “and proceeded through a red light, evading police.”
A short time later, officers in the area found an injured cyclist who had been hit by a vehicle just moments before. He was taken to hospital for treatment, police noted.

Officers later found the vehicle that had struck the cyclist abandoned Garnet Street and Third Avenue, and found that it was the same Ford Escape they’d encountered earlier.
“Investigation determined the suspect vehicle was stolen and at this time police are still searching for the suspect involved,” the police service said in a statement.
Anyone with information that could help the investigation was urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
