The Saskatchewan Roughriders have extended the contract of their short-yardage quarterback.
The CFL team announced Thursday it had signed Antonio Pipkin to a contract extension. The 28-year-old product of Gary, Ind., joined the Roughriders in August in a trade with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pound quarterback had 25 carries for 49 yards and five touchdowns in nine games with Saskatchewan last season. He also completed his lone pass attempt, a 57-yarder to Jamal Morrow on a fake quarterback sneak.
Pipkin previously spent time with the Tiger-Cats, Montreal Alouettes, Toronto Argonauts, Edmonton Elks and B.C. Lions. In his CFL career, he has completed 142 of 261 pass attempts for 1,903 yards with six touchdowns and 10 interceptions, and has rushed 153 times for 635 yards and 26 TDs.
