Officers in the Regina police plane helped track down a suspect in an alleged incident of dangerous driving Friday evening.
In a media release Monday, police said officers in the plane saw a vehicle speeding through the city’s northwest.
“Officers followed the vehicle from the air as it sped through a school zone on Mapleford Boulevard and down multiple residential streets,” the release said. “The vehicle was travelling between 80 (kilometres per hour) and 130 km/h through heavy traffic, before coming to a stop a short time later in a driveway on Boswell Crescent.”
The Aerial Support Unit directed officers to the house where the vehicle stopped, and they arrived just as three people were getting out. The 16-year-old driver was arrested and charged with operating a conveyance dangerous to the public.
He’s to make his first appearance in Regina Provincial Youth Court on Jan. 15.
