Three receivers who spent time with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2023 were among five players whose signings were announced by the CFL team on Wednesday.
American receivers Kalija Lipscomb, Dohnte Meyers, Jake Parker and Kendall Watson and Canadian linebacker Jaxon Ciraolo-Brown all signed on the dotted line.
Watson played in four games with the Roughriders last season, recording 17 catches for 154 yards and a two-point convert.
The 5-foot-10, 183-pounder joined Saskatchewan after playing five seasons at Samford University.
Lipscomb attended the Roughriders’ training camp in 2023 and spent part of the season with the team. He came to the CFL after stops in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans.
The 6-foot-1, 201-pounder played four seasons at Vanderbilt University before embarking on his pro career.
Parker, a 6-foot-1, 210-pounder, was at training camp with the Riders in 2023 but was released. His college career comprised three seasons at Howard Payne University.
The 5-foot-11, 186-pound Meyers attended rookie camp with the Atlanta Falcons following the 2023 NFL draft. He played collegiately at Presbyterian College and Delta State University.
Ciraolo-Brown was selected by his hometown Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the eighth round (73rd overall) of the 2022 CFL draft out of UBC. The 6-foot-0, 200-pounder went to training camp with the Tiger-Cats before returning to the Thunderbirds.
