Swift Current’s Bella Thomson got to meet one of the most famous actors in the world just weeks after undergoing a major surgery at the SickKids Hospital in Toronto.
Just two weeks after nine-year-old “Bella Brave” received a life-saving bowel transplant in August, Ryan Reynolds was at the hospital shooting an ugly Christmas sweater commercial
The ‘Deadpool’ star decided to visit Bella in her room, and a video showing his visit with the Swift Current girl was shared to social media this week.
The two chatted about their shared hatred for ugly Christmas sweaters and why Bella enjoys the roast beef sandwiches at the hospital.
Many around the world have been following Bella’s story after her social media accounts blew up in popularity.
More than 200,000 people now follow Bella’s story and progress on Instagram, while more than 6.7 million people are following her journey on TikTok.
In a previous interview, Bella’s mother, Kyla Thomson, said the family had to wait nearly three years before getting the call telling them that Bella could get the surgery.
She still has a long road ahead, as recovering from a bowel transplant can take anywhere from three months to a full year.
Reynolds is also encouraging donations to the SickKids Foundation. His campaign can be found on the organization’s website.
