A 33-year-old man who killed another man during an altercation at the Regina jail is going to prison.
According to court documents, Adrian Cote was sentenced Monday in Regina Provincial Court to 6 1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of 46-year-old Sheldon Rosebluff.
With credit for time on remand, Cote will spend just under five years behind bars in connection with Rosebluff’s death.
On Oct. 14, 2022, the RCMP issued a media release saying two inmates at the Regina Correctional Centre had been “involved in an altercation” two days earlier inside the jail.
The RCMP said Rosebluff had been seriously injured and subsequently died at the scene. Cote wasn’t hurt.
Cote initially was charged with second-degree murder, but the charge was downgraded to manslaughter in September of this year.
