Thanks to 980 CJME’s Santas Anonymous, almost 4,400 kids in Regina will have gifts under their Christmas trees.
The program has been running for 54 years with the goal of providing a free gift to families who might not be able to afford Christmas presents for their children.
Santas Anonymous is a joint initiative by 980 CJME and The Salvation Army.
New, unwrapped toys for children ranging in age from newborns to 12-year-olds were collected between Nov. 12 and Monday and dropped off in collection bins around the city.
As of Monday, 4,381 children were registered to receive a toy over the next 10 days. The first day of toy distribution is set for Tuesday.
“The generosity of our city continues to amaze me,” said Amber Morse, the Santas Anonymous co-ordinator for 980 CJME.
According to The Salvation Army website, $2,595 also had been raised through the program.
