The CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed one of their veteran defensive backs to a contract extension.
Amari Henderson was slated to become a free agent Feb. 13. The team announced the transaction Friday, but didn’t release terms of the deal.
Henderson appeared in 18 games with the Roughriders last season, recording 45 defensive tackles and two interceptions. The 6-foot-1, 182-pounder played in 11 games with Saskatchewan in 2022 and had 31 defensive tackles.
The 26-year-old product of Charlotte, N.C., also has recorded 10 pass knockdowns, one tackle for loss and one fumble recovery in his CFL career.
Henderson spent five seasons at Wake Forest University, playing in 46 games. He graduated with 169 career defensive tackles, 41 pass knockdowns and seven interceptions.
He signed with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020 as an undrafted free agent and spent time on the club’s practice roster that season. In 2021, Henderson signed with the Minnesota Vikings and played in one pre-season game.
