A Saskatchewan man has been fined $2,800 in connection with a workplace injury that occurred in January of 2022.
The Ministry of Labour Relations and Workplace Safety says Robert W. Jones pleaded guilty in Estevan Provincial Court on Dec. 11 to one violation of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations. A second charge was withdrawn.

According to the ministry, on Jan. 21, 2022, near the community of Griffin, a worker suffered serious injuries when they were pinched between a water truck and a payloader.
A release from the ministry said Jones was fined for “being an operator of a unit of powered mobile equipment move or cause to be moved any part of the equipment when a worker may be endangered by that movement, resulting in the serious injury of a worker.”
The court imposed a fine of $2,000 with a surcharge of $800.
Griffin is about 80 kilometres northwest of Estevan.
