Mounties in Big River say a search of a vehicle turned up hundreds of grams of meth and cocaine, along with LSD and an unknown substance.
According to the RCMP, officers in Big River tried to stop a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon, and while the driver initially refused to stop, he eventually parked at a local home.
“Investigation determined the driver of the vehicle had a suspended licence and no vehicle registration. He also provided a false name to officers,” the RCMP said in a statement.
“As a result of continuing investigation, officers located and seized approximately 495 grams of cocaine, approximately 306 grams of methamphetamine, 111 LSD blotters, approximately 63 grams of an unknown substance investigators suspected to contain fentanyl, and other drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.”
The driver and passenger were both arrested, and are facing several drug trafficking charges, along with possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.
Police said the driver – a 40-year-old Big River man – is also facing charges of obstruction and identity fraud, while the passenger – a 37-year-old woman also from Big River – had an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.
