Rams and Huskies kick-off on Saturday for 1 p.m. at Griffiths Stadium for the Hardy Cup.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released slotback Jake Wieneke after a single season in green and white.
Wieneke was one of the Riders’ big free agent signings in 2023, signing a deal alongside Trevor Harris to move on from the Montreal Alouettes and come to Saskatchewan.
In his first season with the team, Wieneke only appeared in six games for Saskatchewan. he hauled in 17 catches for 177 yards with no touchdowns. Wieneke had missed time early in the season with a knee injury but finished off the year as a healthy scratch.
Before coming to Saskatchewan, Wieneke had 142 catches for 2,056 yards and 21 touchdowns in three seasons with the Alouettes.
The Riders finished 2023 with a 6-12 record after going on a seven-game losing streak.
