A 27-year-old Regina woman is facing a charge of attempted murder after a house fire on Rae Street earlier this month.
Police described the fire as arson.
In the early afternoon of Jan. 2, firefighters and police were called to a house fire in the 900 block of Rae Street. The fire was quickly extinguished, police said, and nobody was found inside the home.
But the case didn’t end there.

A few hours after the fire, police said officers were called to a home a block away, where they spoke to a woman who said she’d been assaulted at the home where the fire occurred.
“Following the assault, the female suspect forced the victim into the bathroom and closed the door,” police explained in a statement.
“The suspect then set fire to the house before fleeing the scene. The victim was able to safely escape the residence without further injury.”
After an investigation, police said a 27-year-old woman had been charged with attempted murder. She made a court appearance last Friday, police said.
