One of two men wanted in connection with a murder in Regina in July is in police custody.
In a release Tuesday, Regina police said 35-year-old Shedrek Samuel had turned himself in to the RCMP in British Columbia over the weekend. He was transported to Regina late Monday and appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Tuesday morning.
His next court appearance on a charge of first-degree murder is set for Friday.
Samuel and Daniel (Juma) Drie Atem were wanted on Canada-wide warrants in connection with the death of a man July 29 near the General Hospital.
According to police, officers responded just before 2:30 a.m. to the 2100 block of Broad Street for a report of an injured man. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Police haven’t released the victim’s name or the nature of his injuries.
Atem is still at large. He’s described as being 6-foot-3 and around 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
