The Easter long weekend snow expected for the province didn’t hit quite as hard as anticipated.
As of Friday morning, Environment and Climate Change Canada meteorologist, Rose Carlsen, confirmed snow had fallen through most of the night, largely in the southern and southeastern parts of Saskatchewan.
Carlsen said up to 10 centimetres of snow was expected by Friday evening to fall in the Yorkton area up to Hudson Bay, when the weather pattern was expected to move out of the province and into Manitoba.
Snowfall warnings were issued for the Yorkton, Melville and Esterhazy regions of Saskatchewan throughout Friday morning.
The southeastern part of the province beyond that area can expect between five and 10 centimetres of snow.
Regina still received some snow, with residents waking up to a blanket of white on Friday morning, but Carlsen said no more than a few centimetres was expected, in total, for the city. The snow Saskatoon received was done by early Friday morning, with just a few possible morning flurries lingering.
