People in Regina are being reminded not to park on the city’s roads when street sweepers are operating in their neighbourhoods.
The City of Regina said Friday that the first phase of street sweeping is to begin Monday and will cover 47 kilometres of boulevards and major streets, including Albert Street and Lewvan Drive.
The city also will be sweeping the high-density areas of Harbour Landing, General Hospital, Downtown and Cathedral.
“In the first phase, cars left in a no-parking zone on a sweep day will be ticketed $120 and towed,” the city said in a release. “No-parking zones are marked with signage.”

The release said crews will work 20 hours a day, seven days a week to finish the first phase before starting the second phase. Information about that phase will be released later.
The city noted the street-sweeping operation will take about 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Residents can find out when sweepers will be in their neighbourhoods by downloading the Sweep&Plow App.
“Street sweepers create dusty conditions that reduce visibility,” the release added. “Residents should close windows and walk on alternative sidewalks. If you see dust and sweeping equipment, leave lots of room for the machinery, slow down and be safe.”
